About the Artist

Catherine Hellsten’s work explores the perspectives of memory and connection through photographic imagery. Hellsten is currently expanding on her most recent body of work, Mnemonic Waters, and her collaborative work, Here & There, with glass artist Jon Rees. She has exhibited work nationally at places such as the A/NT Gallery in Seattle, Washington and Gallery r in Rochester, New York as well as internationally at Koc University in Istanbul and Pingyao China. Her work has been published in FotoVideo Digital Photography China, GASnews and is in the collection of the Ege University Paper and Book Art Museum in Izmir, Turkey. 

When not making art, Hellsten works in the marketing field, builds her glass art business, Glass Lantern Studios, with partner Jon Rees, and is an adjunct professor of photography for Ball State University. She resides in Portland, Oregon.
